WAP Congress The Sexual Non-Rapport

Paris, April, 2026

Bibliography Work

Welcome to the web resource for the construction of the English language section of the bibliography for 2026 WAP congress. Below, you will find downloadable (and searchable!) .pdf files of texts from Freuc, Lacan, & Miller, to assist us in our work.

Aim of the work:

Our team will work to extract quotes from English-language texts by Freud, Lacan, and Miller. These extractions will be organized and published in the congress's bibliography.

To complete this work, we will need to divide the workload. Some of us will read texts from Freud, others from Lacan and Miller. Given that Freud's and Lacan's writings are more readily available in English and that less of Miller's work has been translated, most of us will work with the texts of Freud and Lacan.

In creating this webpage, I've done my best to make downloadable (and searchable) .pdf files of the Standard Edtion of Freud's writings, the Écrits, and the Seminars of Lacan, which have been translated into English available to assist all of us in our work.

The Work in Progress:

Below is a button that will bring you all to a shared Google Document of the quotes we have extracted thus far. Please feel free to edit the document in whatever way will help you do this work.

Freud

Unfortunately, all of the .pdf files I've found are not all of the same quality. Some scans of the physical volumes are very good, and others are less good. Be that as it may, I've done my best to make the vest files I have available to everyone.

The work on Freud so far:

I've started reading Freud's texts and have included some of the quotes I've extracted in the Google document I shared above.

I want to continue working through the following texts:

  • "Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality" (1905) - Freud's foundational work on sexual development and the inherent conflicts in human sexuality.
  • "Civilization and Its Discontents" (1930) - Where Freud discusses the fundamental tension between individual sexual desires and the requirements of civilization.
  • "The Taboo of Virginity" (1918) - In which Freud examines the cultural and psychological complications surrounding sexual relations.
  • "Analysis Terminable and Interminable" (1937) - Where Freud addresses the impossibility of fully resolving certain core conflicts, particularly those related to sexual difference.
  • Freud's work on feminine sexuality - Including "Female Sexuality" (1931) and "Femininity" (1933), where Freud struggles with understanding female desire and development.

Notices:

💡
The file I have of volume 7 was too large to be uploaded to the web as one file, so I've broken it up into two separate files.
💡
I've not included Volume 24, which is the index.

Lacan

Below are the approved English translations of the Écrits, the seminars, and other writings by Lacan. Again, the quality of the scanned .pdf files is not uniform. I've done my best to make the best versions available.

Miller

The best place I've found to get my eyes on Miller's texts that have been translated into English is at Lacanian Works Exchange.
